Cheers erupted in the grand ballroom of Sports View Hotel in Kasarani last evening as Hon. Rosalyn Cheptoo, the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Rongena Manaret Ward, received the coveted title of Best Performing MCA in the Rift Valley at this year’s Independent Kenya Women Awards (IKWA) Gala Dinner.

For the people of Rongena Manaret—a quiet ward tucked in the vast landscapes of Rift Valley—this was more than a moment of recognition. It was a triumph that echoed the strength of local leadership, community unity, and the rising power of women in public service.

Organized annually by the Independent Kenya Women Association, the IKWA Gala celebrates exemplary women leaders who have gone above and beyond in their service to the nation. This year, Hon. Cheptoo stood out among dozens of contenders for her commitment to development, community empowerment, and visible transformation of her ward.

“I am honored and privileged to receive this award,” Cheptoo said, emotion welling in her voice. “I sincerely thank the people of Rongena Manaret Ward. This recognition belongs to them—it is their support, their hopes, and their dreams that fuel everything I do.”

In her heartfelt speech, Cheptoo pledged to continue serving with integrity and focus, promising even greater collaboration with her constituents on development matters. “I promise to always stand by you, for you, and with you,” she said. “Our ward is now visible on the map of Kenya. This award is not just mine—it’s ours.”
